OKEOGUN ROADS NEED REHABILITATION - Bar. Waheed Lawal

A lawyer and  concern citizen of OkeOgun Area of Oyo state has called on the authority to rehabilitate major roads in OkeOgun which according to him are in deplorable condition.

Barrister Wheed O Lawal posted the following on his facebook page : 

We are calling on the:

The Federal Government,

The State Gvernment,

The Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District and all the

House of Representatives Members from Okeogun areas,

The Minister of Works & Housing,

The Oyo State House of Assembly,

The Commissioner for Works,

The Federal Controller of Works,

The Chairman and General Manager of the OYSROMA,

The Director of Highways,

The Head of Local Government Administration,

All Traditional Rulers from Okeogun.

To once and for all put a focus on our road conditions and develop the needed political will to do something.

There is a Need for Urgent Action on the Deplorable Roads in Okeogun of Oyo State.

The Committee for the Advocacy of Rehabilitation of Okeogun Roads (CAROR) is saddened and traumatized by the deplorable and agonizing

state of all roads linking and within and across Okeogun of Oyo state.

We dont want to be pushed into militancy, hence we are drawing the attention of the releveant authorities to the pains and agony that our people are subjected to on a daily basis on all the roads linking all the ten local government of Okeogun.

Most of these roads are deplorablable, untarred, ungraded and where partly tarred, badly tarred and full of potholes and are nothing but

death traps. You need to travel to Okeogun, the state of the roads is an eye sore. You will see commuters and motorists spending long hours to connect one town to the other. Many accidents occured on the roads,

damage to health and vehicles have become a daily events.

We need to call our previous Deputy Governors, Senators, House of Reps and Assembly members, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker and other

Principal Members of the House, the past Commisioners and Ministers to come and explain to us what they have done concerning our roads when they were in government.

We need to ask our Traditional Rulers what and how many times they have made concerted efforts to call the attention of the relevant

authorities to the deplorable conditions and called for the

rehabilitation of the roads.

We need the synergy, intervention of all the concerned to mitigate the suffering of the commuting public. We urge all the affore mentioned offices to come to our aid and to immediately swing into action by mobilizing the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to provide palliative measures to the temporary relief and to back it up with the reconstruction and rehabilitation of all the major and township roads in Okeogun.

The pains and agony, the danger and catastrophe resulting in our

plying of these roads are too many to be mentioned. Okeogun roads are deplorable and lethal. Okeogun roads are death traps and provide

opportunists for armed robbers and kidnappers to operate. Okeogun roads are so bad to the extent that indigenes in diaspora fear going home. We urge every lover of humanity, justice and fairness to join us

to echo, chorus this cry for help, urgent intervention before we all

go into extinction. The Federal and State Government, act now before we approach the United Nations for assistance.
