Oke-Ogun FM: The Past, Present and the Future - By Akeem Olatunji

Exactly 2 days ago, I was at Oke-Ogun FM Station at Alaga Via Iseyin. The station has potential to be a money spinning venture based on how former Governor Otunba Alao Adebayo Akala designed it but the last 8 years under Ex-Governor Abiola Ajimobi was a disaster for the FM station.
A look at the studio depicts a lifeless environment with termites already eating up the studio walls while ropes were used to tie up chairs that presenters and guests sit upon.
I happened to be the only spokesperson of a ruling party that ever visited or interviewed on the station in the last 8 years and none of the officials of the past administration under Senator Ajimobi set their feet on the Oke-Ogun FM station's soil.
The advent of Governor Seyi Makinde led PDP government is the saving grace that is bringing back the good old days of Oke-Ogun FM station couple with the appointment of Prince Dotun Oyelade who has rekindled professionalism and pride in the operation of the outfit.
The audience of Oke-Ogun FM is comparable to that of any of the best FM stations in Ibadan but the 5 KW transmitter bought by Ajimobi government to replace Akala's 10 KW transmitter is not sufficient for their huge audience and listeners, another 10 KW transmitter is needed to boost reception across the 10 local governments in Okeogun and part of Kwara State and Benin Republic.
There's no better hands to turn the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State than Prince Dotun Oyelade and it seems his magic wand is doing wonderfully well with the improvement in service delivery of BCOS TV and FM, Oke-Ogun FM and Ajilete FM but he can do better with the support of the state government and I am sure it's a worthwhile venture.

Engr Akeem Olatunji II is the PDP Publicity Secretary, Oyo State.
